Set the ZIP codes you serve and which groomer covers each area on which days. Customers only book when a van is in their neighbourhood — and every stop comes with one-tap directions to the door.
Service areas are the part built for vans. The rest is the same platform every ThePetsMonk salon uses — online booking, payments, review requests and automated reminders, all included on the same plan.
Plenty of mobile groomers add a van, then a room, then a weekend of boarding. The boarding-first platforms charge a separate per-location plan for each service. We include all three, on one calendar, on the same plan.

Customers are asked where you should come before they see a single time slot — so the only appointments that reach your calendar are ones a van can actually get to.
They're asked "where should we come?" before anything else, and address autocomplete fills it in as they type. If they're inside one of your service areas they carry on booking. If they're not, they get a friendly "we don't reach that area yet" instead of an appointment you'd have to cancel.
How do I set up my service areas?
You name an area — "North Side", say — give it a colour, and paste in its ZIP codes. That's the whole setup, and it takes a few minutes. There's no territory to draw on a map and no mapping subscription to buy.
Can I send different groomers to different areas on different days?
Yes, and it's the heart of it. A simple grid sets who covers each area on each weekday — Sam on the North Side Mondays and Thursdays, for instance. North Side customers then only see Mondays and Thursdays with Sam. Leave an area unassigned and any working groomer can cover it.
Do you plan my route or optimise my driving day?
No — and we'd rather say so plainly. This first version handles where you'll go and who's covering it, not the order you drive it. There's no route optimisation, no map view and no drive-time-aware scheduling. If you need a cushion between stops, add buffer time to your services. Route planning is on the roadmap, not in the product.
Can my front desk still book someone outside the service areas?
Yes. The limit only applies to customers booking themselves online. Staff can always book outside the areas — for a long-standing customer who moved across town, for example — and they'll see a heads-up that the address is outside your areas before they confirm.
How do my groomers find the address on the day?
Every appointment carries the address the van is going to, and directions are one tap from the appointment or the week calendar — opening Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps everywhere else. If a customer's address changes later, past appointments keep the address you actually drove to.
Do you send "on my way" texts or live van tracking?
Not yet. There's no ETA text, no live GPS tracking and no customer-facing van map in this version. You can still send appointment reminders and messages the same way a salon does.
Can I charge a travel fee for the far side of my area?
Not today. Service areas decide whether someone can book, not what they pay — there's no area-based pricing or travel surcharge yet. Most mobile groomers price this into the service itself in the meantime.
Can I run a salon and a van from the same account?
Not in one account today — a business is set up as either salon or mobile. If you run both, talk to us before you sign up and we'll walk you through how other groomers have handled it.
Do I still get online booking, payments and review requests?
Yes — all of it. Mobile isn't a cut-down version of the product; it's the full grooming platform with service areas switched on. You get the branded booking page, card payments and deposits, automated SMS and email reminders, review requests after a groom, client and pet records, and your reports. Service areas simply decide who's allowed to book you.
Does it cost extra?
No. Mobile is a setting, not a separate product or an add-on — you turn it on under Settings → Modules → Grooming. Service areas work off ZIP codes, so there's no Google Maps subscription to buy either. Best fit today is US businesses, since areas depend on postal codes.
